I’ve been baking pecans lately to give to family and friends as Christmas gifts. So I’ve got a good handle on what’s essential to make sugared pecans – namely pecans, butter and sugar. Yum! Fortunately, all these things are easy to find at the local supermarket and my kitchen is smelling pretty good these days.
But what about medicines for a mission trip? What are the essential medicines to take and how can a mission team get them? MAP International has devoted a great deal of time and energy developing the answer to this essential question. We surveyed thousands of medical professionals who used MAP donated medicines on recent mission trips. Our partners were very helpful as we questioned them about the conditions they treated and the medicines they needed. We sifted through their feedback and suggestions, looking for common themes and experiences, to help us create a list of the most needed items. The result is the MAP Travel Pack Essential, a prepackaged assortment of medicines, like antibiotics, multivitamins and oral rehydration salts, designed to meet a number of those essential needs encountered on many short term medical mission trips.
